{"id":2365,"date":"2023-10-08T03:58:00","date_gmt":"2023-10-08T03:58:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/msrm.mn\/?p=2365"},"modified":"2023-10-08T03:58:00","modified_gmt":"2023-10-08T03:58:00","slug":"implementing-sustainable-pasture-management-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/msrm.mn\/?p=2365&lang=en","title":{"rendered":"Implementing Sustainable Pasture Management Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Following the contract with\u00a0<span class=\"scayt-misspell\" data-scayt_word=\"\u201c\u041eyu\" data-scaytid=\"3\">\u201c\u041eyu<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"scayt-misspell\" data-scayt_word=\"Tolgoi\u201d\" data-scaytid=\"5\">Tolgoi\u201d<\/span>\u00a0LTD the Mongolian Society for Range Management has commenced the project\u00a0 in\u00a0<span class=\"scayt-misspell\" data-scayt_word=\"Khanbogd\" data-scaytid=\"7\">Khanbogd<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"scayt-misspell\" data-scayt_word=\"soum\" data-scaytid=\"13\">soum<\/span>,\u00a0<span class=\"scayt-misspell\" data-scayt_word=\"Umnugovi\" data-scaytid=\"21\">Umnugovi<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"scayt-misspell\" data-scayt_word=\"aimag\" data-scaytid=\"25\">aimag<\/span>\u00a0since September, 2010. The project aims to introduce and strengthen sustainable pasture management in the\u00a0<span class=\"scayt-misspell\" data-scayt_word=\"soum\" data-scaytid=\"15\">soum<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>The goal\u00a0 of the project is to implement activities for possessing, using and protecting pastures so that management which is informed by\u00a0 the results of pasture health monitoring and appropriate in market conditions is\u00a0 introduced and strengthened.\u00a0 Having introduced such a management system, the laying ground will be set\u00a0 for practicing pasture management which fits desert\u00a0 areas, preservation of pasture lands intact, promotion of\u00a0 sustainable animal husbandry sector and combating\u00a0 and reduction of pasture degradation.<\/p>\n<p>A large scale project on operation of\u00a0<span class=\"scayt-misspell\" data-scayt_word=\"Oyu\" data-scaytid=\"29\">Oyu<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"scayt-misspell\" data-scayt_word=\"Tolgoi\" data-scaytid=\"31\">Tolgoi<\/span>\u00a0gold and copper mine site is underway in\u00a0 the southern part of the territory of\u00a0<span class=\"scayt-misspell\" data-scayt_word=\"Umnugovi\" data-scaytid=\"23\">Umnugovi<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"scayt-misspell\" data-scayt_word=\"aimag\" data-scaytid=\"27\">aimag<\/span>. This long term mining project which covers large areas in Mongolia are bringing a number of positive and negative changes and impacts. The need emerged in\u00a0<span class=\"scayt-misspell\" data-scayt_word=\"Khanbogd\" data-scaytid=\"9\">Khanbogd<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"scayt-misspell\" data-scayt_word=\"soum\" data-scaytid=\"17\">soum<\/span>\u00a0to develop and implement\u00a0 pasture management plans adjusted to the undergoing changes and ensure herders&#8217; participation in order to improve herders\u2019 livelihood and foster herders\u2019 self governing institutions.<\/p>\n<p>The sustainable pasture management project is being implemented by Pasture User Group\u00a0<span class=\"scayt-misspell\" data-scayt_word=\"\u201cAltan\" data-scaytid=\"33\">\u201cAltan<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"scayt-misspell\" data-scayt_word=\"Nutag\u201d\" data-scaytid=\"35\">Nutag\u201d<\/span>\u00a0in\u00a0<span class=\"scayt-misspell\" data-scayt_word=\"Khanbogd\" data-scaytid=\"11\">Khanbogd<\/span>. The group is led by\u00a0<span class=\"scayt-misspell\" data-scayt_word=\"B.Unurzaya\" data-scaytid=\"1\">B.Unurzaya<\/span>.\u00a0 The project are running activities which target at protection of pastures, called as green gold,\u00a0 valuable wealth of Mongolia, improvement of degraded pastures, exercise of co- pasture management, improvement of livestock quality and productivity, support to added value production such as meat and wool processing into products and herders\u2019 engagement\u00a0 in alternative income generation activities.<\/p>\n<p>At\u00a0<span class=\"scayt-misspell\" data-scayt_word=\"soum\" data-scaytid=\"19\">soum<\/span>\u00a0level, herders established and joined into 14 pasture user groups and appointed their group leaders.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Following the contract with\u00a0\u201c\u041eyu\u00a0Tolgoi\u201d\u00a0LTD the Mongolian Society for Range Management has commenced the project\u00a0 in\u00a0Khanbogd\u00a0soum,\u00a0Umnugovi\u00a0aimag\u00a0since September, 2010.
